Sometimes, you never know when clips from a jovial celebrity chef's cooking show from more than 20 years go might make your day, week, month, year, lifetime. Then... 'BAM!' Emeril Live.

For some wonderful reason, clips from Emeril Lagasse's legendary cooking show have gone viral on social media, reintroducing people to a simpler time where folks could get together in a live studio and just hoot and holler at the world's most energetic chef cooks spaghetti and meatballs. We really didn't know how good we used to have it.

Sure, people might be playing it up for the camera, but we don't think that's all this is. Some of those reactions to Emeril working his culinary magic aren't manufactured; they're the inner joy exploding in awe at how delicious that burger is going to taste or at the sheer thrill of adding starch to a meal. He went in with TWO beers?! Those clips of a bunch of guys being dudes in the crowd and getting fired up at Emeril making big, beefy meals warms the soul.

There is something beautiful about a bunch of happy, hungry people gathering together in a room to watch a glorious madman make comfort food on live television with the joie de vivre of the rising sun. Emeril provided a cosmic electricity to those folks, just look at the excitement! They're about to eat like kings and queens.

Revel in these joyous clips... but not on an empty stomach unless you're about to eat dinner.

Our monoculture misses something like this, something so easy and welcoming as a live cooking show where you freak out like your team won the Super Bowl at a guy pouring onions into a bowl. Is this the cure to male loneliness? Did we really take for granted the purest expression of communal joy in modern entertainment ever put to screen? Would the return of Emeril Live save our fractured society? It might; it just might. This is like discovering a lost civilization of geniuses that loved to just eat food, cheer for food, high-five over food and yell 'BAM!' while cooking.

Few things bring people together like good food. Your face will hurt from smiling, and your stomach will gurgle with the thunderous ferocity of the titans after watching these Emeril cooking clips. A 'BAM!' for us all, as it should be.

Help us, Emeril Lagasse, you're our only hope!
