The Odyssey is now playing only in theaters worldwide. Many fans are already waiting for its digital and streaming release. Universal Pictures has not confirmed either date yet. However, Christopher Nolan’s previous release patterns offer a few clues.
When could The Odyssey get its digital release date?
Christopher Nolan always prefers theaters over streaming platforms first. That suggests The Odyssey may not reach digital very quickly. The Odyssey was released in theaters on July 17, 2026, while Universal has not announced any digital release date yet.
The studio has also not confirmed its home release plans. Following its strong opening weekend, a longer theatrical run remains possible. If Universal gives the movie a normal blockbuster window, it could arrive on digital after 45 to 60 days. That would put its PVOD release sometime in late August or September 2026. However, there is another possibility fans should remember too.
Nolan’s Oppenheimer reached digital platforms almost four months after its 2023 release. Universal could repeat that strategy with The Odyssey again. If that happens, November 2026 becomes another strong possibility.

Its digital release timeline will likely depend on its box office performance. A longer theatrical run means a later digital release.
When could The Odyssey get its streaming release date on Peacock?
Peacock will likely become the movie’s first streaming home. Universal Pictures usually sends its biggest films there first. If digital arrives around two months from now, streaming should follow later. That could place Peacock’s release near late 2026.
However, a longer wait remains possible. If Oppenheimer’s timeline is followed again, streaming could arrive during early 2027 instead. Before streaming, The Odyssey should first release on PVOD platforms. Fans will likely find it on Apple TV, Prime Video, YouTube Movies, or Fandango.
For now, the studio is expected to keep The Odyssey in theaters as long as possible. The film is aiming for a massive worldwide box office run.
