Tropical Storm Fay, formerly Tropical Depression Six, has formed in the Atlantic Ocean.
The Atlantic hurricane season is off to its quietest start on record, dating back to the beginning of the satellite era (1960).
Fay is expected to ultimately encounter hostile conditions and eventually fizzle out, but not before potentially strengthening in the next day or so.
Tropical Storm Fay has formed in the Atlantic Ocean, southwest of the Azores, packing winds of 35mph.
According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Tropical Storm Fay is slow-moving at 2 mph and is forecast to move southwest across the Atlantic Ocean.
