A woman went viral after sharing family photos she spotted at Goodwill. Turns out, they belonged to Grammy-winning singer Jill Scott.
In the TikTok video posted March 16 titled “the saddest thing i’ve ever seen at Goodwill,” user @whatshannahinto shared the sentimental find with her audience.
“Discovering poignant remnants of forgotten lives is a common experience for thrift store shoppers. In a particularly moving find at Goodwill, a collection of what appear to be personal family memories were found sitting on a shelf,” the caption said.
“This discovery evokes a sense of sadness, highlighting the poignant reality that cherished personal histories can end up in unexpected places, separated from their original owners."
The content creator received a slew of comments pointing out that the woman in the photographs looked like Jill Scott.
“That’s the famous singer Jill Scott not sure why her images are there,” one person commented. Another suggested she contact the “Golden” vocalist. “Reach out to her and ask can you return them.”

Jill Scott responds to viral video
Jill Scott's family photos went viral after a content creator found them at Goodwill.
In an interview with People, the TikToker, identified as 25-year-old Hannah Peters, shared her reaction to the discovery. She returned to the store days later to secure the remaining portraits, including Scott's school picture.
"I felt a mix of surprise, excitement, and responsibility to make sure they were safe," Peterstold the outlet, later adding, “It also showed me how social media can connect people in unexpected ways and help return something precious to its rightful owners.”
In a series of follow-up videos, Peters said at first it was difficult to reach Scott, but she eventually got in touch with a member of her team.
Scott herself provided some insight about how the photos ended up at Goodwill in a post on X onMarch 25.
“How does one’s personal pictures end up in a Goodwill? Welp, moving to a new home. My Mommy moved,” the songstress wrote. “We’re all grateful to get the pics back. I’ll let you know when they arrive. Thanks again.”
