Bronwyn Newport is revealing which of her Real Housewives of Salt Lake City castmates has shown the most support amid her separation from husband Todd Bradley. In her PEOPLE digital cover story, the Bravo star, 40, says Mary Cosby has “texted every few days” since she announced her split in December. “She made sure she called me on every holiday since Todd and I have been separated,” Bronwyn says. “Mary has shared things with me about things that she's gone through in her life or in different relationships she's been in and tried to just kind of really encourage me to figure out what's best for me.” Bronwyn adds that “Mary loves Todd,” and “Todd probably is closest with Mary.” “I don't know I would say Todd is close to any of the women, but Todd probably likes Mary the most and always has,” she says. “And Mary is an interesting person for me to have the ability to confide in. Mary has made that very easy. Since this news has been out, Mary has been really using kid gloves with me.”

Bronwyn also appreciates that she can always count on Mary, 53, for a laugh during hard moments. “She sends me really funny TikToks,” she says. “I don't know if everybody is familiar with Mary Cosby's TikTok game, but she finds all the best TikToks — and some shady ones. Mary sends me shady TikToks about the other girls sometimes. Mary sees all.”

Despite their separation, Bronwyn says she and Todd, 66, are currently living together at their Utah home “for our dogs.” (They share five boxers.) When Bronwyn signed on for RHOSLC two years ago, she says Todd — whom she married in 2016 — had some reservations. “Todd hates the show,” she says. “He thinks that I didn’t need to do it or I didn’t need to prove to other people who I was or who I am.”

Newport admits the show “brought out a weird dynamic” in her marriage but makes it clear that "the cameras didn’t create our problems.” Still, watching the tension in their marriage onscreen this past season made an impact on her decision to separate.

"It was really eye-opening,” she says. “I didn’t like how needy I was, and I didn’t like how upset or defensive I was.”

While Bronwyn says the separation is "not what I wanted" or "where I hoped for us to be going," she's confident there's "wonderful things" in store for both her and Todd in the future.

Season 6 of RHOSLC is streaming now on Peacock.
