The Hacks costars’ reunion comes as both actresses are nominated at the 2026 Emmy Awards
The backstage visit follows Stalter’s recent return to the production after missing performances due to bronchitis
Meg Stalter had a familiar face waiting for her backstage.
The Hacks star reunited with her former costar Hannah Einbinder after a performance of Oh, Mary! at New York City’s Lyceum Theatre on Wednesday, July 22. The pair smiled for photos backstage as Stalter continues her run in the hit Broadway comedy. Both actresses are also competing for the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series award at the 2026 Emmy Awards.
Just days earlier, Stalter, 35, revealed she had missed several performances after coming down with bronchitis.
“I’m so sad to have missed @ohmaryplay shows this week as I’m very very sick with bronchitis,” Stalter wrote on Instagram on Thursday, July 16. “We are hoping not pneumonia!”

In the same post, Stalter thanked “the incredible” Hannah Solow and Jackie Sanders for stepping into the roles of Mary Todd Lincoln and Mary’s Chaperone while she recovered.
“The world’s most talented and have stepped in to give you the BEST SHOW,” she wrote.
Stalter also shared photos of herself resting at home, including one that prompted questions from fans online. Addressing the image in the comments section, she explained, “Drinking Pedialyte and on a lot of medication in this pic.”
Stalter made her Broadway debut in Oh, Mary! on July 6 and is set to remain with the production through Sept. 12.

The comedy, written by Cole Escola and directed by Sam Pinkleton, reimagines Mary Todd Lincoln as she secretly dreams of becoming a cabaret star in the days before Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.
Before taking the stage for the first time, Stalter joked to PEOPLE that she wasn’t planning to overthink the role.
“I feel like I’m just going to kind of wing it,” she said.

“I don’t think I’m going to even learn the lines because I feel like you just get up there and kind of like, do it,” she added. “I’m the queen of improv.”
Einbinder, 31, isn’t the only Hacks costar who has stopped by to cheer on Stalter’s Broadway debut. Following her opening performance on July 6, Jean Smart attended the afterparty celebrating the milestone, and the two actresses posed together for photos after the show.
Tickets for Oh, Mary! are on sale now. All five seasons of Hacks, which was also nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series at the 2026 Emmys, are now streaming on HBO Max.
