Kate Middleton shared a candid update about Princess Charlotte’s sports while visiting a rugby club

The Princess of Wales revealed her daughter is active in many sports at school

Kate has previously said sports are a huge part of family life for the Wales' children

Kate Middleton shared a rare update on her daughter Princess Charlotte's sporting life while visiting Wakefield Trinity Rugby Club on Jan. 27 — and revealed there’s one game the 10-year-old isn’t quite playing at school.

The Princess of Wales, 44, hit the pitch during a skills session with young girls involved in Wakefield’s Champion Schools program, marking the second stop of her first solo away day of the year in northern England. As patron of the Rugby Football League, Kate joined the group for a candid chat about sports — and family life.

When one girl asked whether Princess Charlotte played sports, Kate replied, ā€œShe does loads of sports, but not much rugby yet. It's so difficult playing rugby in school."

When asked about her own sporting history, Kate said she played ā€œloads of netballā€ in school, but skipped rugby and football. ā€œTotally different skill set, isn’t it?ā€ she said, asking the girls whether they minded the physical contact involved in rugby.

When they said they liked it, Kate noted, ā€œThere’s not many other sports like that where you can actually say contact is a good thing.ā€

Princess Kate and Prince William are parents to Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, 7, and have spoken about their daughter running track, dancing ballet and tap, playing soccer and doing gymnastics. Charlotte and George have also joined their parents at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in recent summers and the Wales family has a tennis court at Anmer Hall, their country home.

While Charlotte isn't officially involved in rugby, Kate recently explained that her daughter participated when they played together at home.

"Charlotte is playing rugby but at home with the family, so she isn't yet at school," the Princess of Wales said at a reception she hosted for England's Women's Rugby team at Windsor Castle on Jan. 15, the Daily Mail reported. "Rugby is so accessible; Louis is playing touch rugby and it's such a great game," she added about her youngest son.

In another tidbit, Princess Kate shared at the rugby reception that Louis is participating in "Rugbytots" sessions, a weekly rugby play program for boys and girls between ages 2 and 7.

"He's sort of 7, 8 now, and he's enjoying it. At this time of year, the pitch is either totally swamped, or they're hard," she told England's Women's Rugby team captain Zoe Stratford, vice captains Marlie Packer and Megan Jones and head coach John Mitchell about Louis' participation.

The Princess of Wales also added that she was staying out of George's way when they played rugby together.

"Actually, they shouldn't necessarily need to pigeon hole boys and girls in particular sports too early. Obviously as they get physically stronger – George now, if we play at home, I do not want to get tackled by George!" she quipped. "But, up to a certain age I think it's great."

Prince George seems to be catching up to his parents in height and on Christmas Day, Kate didn't disagree when a well-wisher at Sandringham told her that George was "going to be 6'4" one day.

"I know, I swear, he's catching up with everybody, isn't he?" the Princess of Wales said with a laugh in a candid reaction.
