Jon Stewart eerily predicted the current state of TV more than 20 years ago.
There have been a lot of shakeups across different networks since Donald Trump returned to office, with Stephen Colbert most recently being axed from CBS. The 62-year-old said a final farewell to The Late Show Thursday, May 21, after more than 11 years on air.
When CBS announced Colbert's cancellation, rumors started spreading that the president may have influenced the network's decision following Paramount's merger with Skydance. Now, a resurfaced video of Stewart from 2002 has resurfaced on Reddit, in which the 63-year-old comedian predicted "we're all gonna get fired by the same guy one day."

In the 60 Minutes segment, a news anchor said, "Stewart seems to save his sharpest barbs for the news business himself, which he believes is becoming more and more a promotional tool for its corporate owners." Stewart then told the 60 Minutes host, "It's about the system. It's not about the people who populate it, does that make sense?"

The host asked, "But what is it about the system?" Stewart replied, "It's like any system. It cannot be effective once it gets away from what its goal and heart should be, which is to present you with information to inform you and to help you.

"Once you become us, once you became a competitive industry in the same respect as entertainment, now you're borrowing from, you know, the way we used to sell The Sonny & Cher Show in the '70s. How can that not be a farce when you're talking about news?"
He then seemed concerned about his job and asked, "Am I gonna be fired? Am I part of your CBS family? Do you know? Can I be fired for this?" The 60 Minutes host didn't seem sure and responded, "Are you part of the CBS news family?" Stewart admitted, "I don't know."
In a voiceover the host revealed, "Actually in the course of doing this story, we found out he almost is. Comedy Central is owned by a company called Comedy Partners, which is a joint venture between AOL Time Warner and Viacom, the same company that owns CBS."
Stewart then suggested, "It's one joint venture, see? We're all gonna get fired by the same guy one day and it's gonna be like a freaky, it's like a cross-breed genetic between like Dolly the Sheep and one of [Rupert] Murdoch's kids and it'll just, rule AOL Time Viacom Warner Synergy."
The video was shared on Reddit, where viewers were quick to share their thoughts. "It’s always so eery to me when they foretell what’s happening now," one person admitted.

"Welcome to hell," another Reddit user said as a third person suggested, "It was very clear then what was happening, but you got hushed/treated like a radical if you tried to point it out or criticize it."
Someone else questioned, "I’ve always wondered why Trump has never really gone after Stewart like he does others, especially when Jon works for Paramount. Who just ended Colbert. Then Jon said he think it’s because Trump doesn’t have Comedy Central lol. Trump only watches NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox News. So he never sees it."
"Jon the prophet. I wish more people would have listened to him and would continue to listen to him," a fifth viewer admitted. One worried commenter added, "We really are in the bad timeline."
