House of the Dragon star Matthew Needham will voice Joker on Batman: Caped Crusader season 2.

Needham is known for playing Larys “Clubfoot” Strong with his foot fetish on the Game of Thrones prequel.

Showrunner James Tucker previously teased how the character factors into the season.

A House of the Dragon star relocates from Westeros to vacation in Gotham City.

Matthew Needham, the actor behind Larys Strong on the Game of Thrones prequel, will voice the Joker in Batman: Caped Crusader season 2. The casting reveal came out of Comic-Con in San Diego during a Thursday panel, which began with a world premiere screening of the premiere episode.

Executive producers James Tucker and Geoffrey Thorne joined some of the voice cast on stage, including Hamish Linklater (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Jamie Chung (Harley Quinn), and Needham himself. Needham continues to appear as Larys “Clubfoot” in House of the Dragon season 3, which rolls out weekly on HBO and HBO Max every Sunday.

Tucker previously teased how the character is incorporated into the season during a pre-Comic-Con interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“I love delaying Joker as long as possible for people,” he said. “Of course, every Batman show’s gonna get that. It’s just how and when.”

This take on the mad clown of Gotham is less Jack Nicholson and George Romero, choosing a more stoic approach inspired by Conrad Veidt silent films and German expressionism. “That led us to reinterpret Joker as a character who basically came from silent movies, who came from German expressionism,” he said. “And that informed his stoicism and his coldness, because he’s kind of a cold character in this interpretation.”

Prime Video also revealed a new image of Joker on Batman: Caped Crusader season 2, though his face remains hidden from most materials.

The ensemble voice cast also includes Eric Morgan Stuart, Michelle C. Bonilla, Krystal Joy Brown, Jason Watkins, Gary Anthony Williams, Ronan Raftery, Wunmi Mosaku, Laraine Newman, Grey DeLisle, John DiMaggio, Zach Hoffman, William Salyers, Josh Brener, Bumper Robinson, Cedric Yarbrough, Tom Kenny, Roger Craig Smith, Blythe Melin, Fryda Wolff, Kevin Michael Richardson, Juliet Donenfeld, and Robin Atkin Downes.

All 10 of the new episodes will premiere on Prime Video on July 31.
