- Dua Lipa is suing Samsung for $15 million, alleging that it used her face to sell TVs without her consent and without paying her.

- The lawsuit claims the electronics company used her image on the packaging for the televisions and refused to back down when the singer asked it to stop.

- Lipa accuses Samsung of profiting from her endorsement of the TVs when she has not actually endorsed the products.

Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million lawsuit against Samsung, claiming the company used her image to sell televisions without her consent or compensation.

Per a complaint filed in the Central District of California on Friday and reviewed by **, the singer claims the electronics manufacturer prominently featured a copyrighted photograph of her face on the front of cardboard boxes containing Samsung TVs without her knowledge, and then distributed and marketed the packaging and sold the products inside it. When the singer learned of it around June 2025, she asked that Samsung stop using her image, but the filing alleges that the company denied the request.

"Samsung’s copying and distribution of the DL Image constitutes willful copyright and trademark infringement, and a violation of Ms. Lipa's right of publicity, designed to improperly capitalize on Ms. Lipa's hard-earned success to promote and sell Samsung's products," the complaint claims. "Samsung has refused to comply with Ms. Lipa's repeated demands that it cease and desist from infringing on her rights by the continued exploitation of the infringing products."

The complaint adds that Samsung's response to Lipa's request was "dismissive and callous" and the television and its packaging are still on the market and being sold throughout the country. Because of this, it claims, the company has profited and continues to profit "immensely" from the impression that the singer has endorsed the TVs when, in fact, she has not.

"Samsung's arrogance in refusing to stop its infringement confirms its conscious disregard of Ms. Lipa's intellectual property and personal identity rights," the filing claims, alleging that the company is "capitalizing on the implied (false) association with Ms. Lipa as a sponsor of Samsung's mass-marketed television sets in the boxes on which she is prominently featured." The company's "willful and deliberate misconduct," it adds, has caused "irreparable harm" to Lipa.

When reached for comment, a representative for Samsung provided * *with the following statement: "Ms. Lipa's image was used in 2025 to reflect the content of our third-party partners that is available on Samsung TVs and was originally provided by a content partner for our free streaming service Samsung TV Plus. The image was used only after receiving explicit assurance from the content partner that permission had been secured, including for the retail boxes. Given this assurance, we deny any allegations of intentional misuse. Samsung has great respect for Ms. Lipa and the intellectual property of all artists. We have actively sought and remain open to a constructive resolution with Ms. Lipa's team.”

Per the filing, Lipa owns the copyright to the image used on Samsung's packaging, a photo that was taken backstage at the Austin City Limits Festival in 2024.

Over the course of her career, the singer has partnered with several major brands, serving as a global ambassador for Puma, YSL Beauty, Bvlgari, and Nespresso; co-creating a fashion line with Donatella Versace; collaborating with Yves Saint Laurent on its Libre perfume; and teaming with Porsche, Apple, Chanel, Tiffany & Co., and several other luxury and fashion houses. She also recently starred in a campaign promoting the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan.
