Drew Starkey once had an uncomfortable encounter with a fan during a massage.
“I was praying that it would be over soon,” the Outer Banks star says.
Starkey’s Onslaught costar Adria Arjona also shares an amusing fan anecdote.
Drew Starkey had an unfortunate realization midway through a massage.
The Outer Banks actor tells Entertainment Weekly about one of his funniest encounters with a fan while visiting EW’s 2026 San Diego Comic-Con Studio on Thursday
“One time I was getting a massage, and I never get massages,” Starkey says. “And in the middle of the massage, I heard the masseuse go, ‘I’m a really big fan, by the way.’”
The Queer star says that he briefly lifted his head to tell the masseuse, “Oh, thank you,” but he wasn’t feeling particularly grateful upon the revelation.
“I was praying that it would be over soon,” he says.
Starkey’s Onslaught costar Adria Arjona also shares an amusing fan anecdote with EW.
“I had an interesting one, and I think it’s just because my mother made it really funny,” she says. “It was fashion week in Paris, and usually there’s a lot of fans outside of your hotel. And I’m trying to get in, and the security guard’s trying to pull me in. And it kind of got a little crazy.”

Arjona was hoping to get inside the building for a little peace and quiet, but her mom had other plans. “I just hear my mom crying in the middle of all this. She’s like, ‘They love you so much!’” she recalls. “I’m like, ‘Mom, get in the hotel right now!’ And she forced me to go out and sign everything.”

Arjona adds, “By the way, she was right. But it was just really late at night, and it was really chaotic.”
Directed by The Guest filmmaker Adam Wingard, Onslaught stars Arjona as a mother trying to protect her family from vicious super soldiers. The Andor actress says that filming the movie under frigid conditions proved to be more challenging than she expected.
“We were freezing, and to be able to act when you’re freezing — I mean, that took me by surprise,” she says. “And I’m covered in blood [for] the majority of it, which the blood would just completely freeze, so they’d have to put more blood and more blood.”
“You were a champ about it, though,” Starkey adds. “‘Cause I showed up about halfway through, and I was like, ‘How’s it going?’ and you were like, ‘It’s great, I’m freezing.’”

Starkey underwent a physical transformation to play his supporting role in the film. “I had to bleach my eyebrows,” he says. “I went full-out. I wanted to shave my eyebrows, and Adam came up to me, and he was like, ‘Maybe we just bleach them.’ So seeing myself in the mirror for the first time with bleached eyebrows [was surprising].”
