Dove Cameron and Damiano David got engaged in October 2025 and announced the news in January 2026

During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Jan. 27, Cameron opened up about the intimate home proposal

The singer-actress also revealed how she knew the big moment was coming

Dove Cameron didn't need a flashy proposal to say yes to forever.

While promoting her upcoming sexy, psychological thriller series, 56 Days, on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, Jan. 27, Cameron, 30, discussed her engagement to Måneskin frontman Damiano David, 27.

Host Jimmy Fallon, 51, joked that he was getting blinded by Cameron's diamond engagement ring, which the singer-actress gushed is "beautiful" and "perfect" because her fiancé helped design it. However, David revealed that the ring was in the works before he popped the question, leading to Cameron feeling suspicious at all times.

"He was like, 'I'm designing the ring.' And then he was like, 'The ring is done,' " Cameron said. "So every step of the way I didn't know how close we were, how far we were, but I just knew forever that this was coming."

Cameron told all her friends of David's plan to propose, and they suggested she make sure she was glammed up at all times so that she was ready for the big moment whenever it came.

"They were like, 'Okay, well, you know the one thing you have to do? You have to wear white every day. You have to always have your nails done. 'Cause there's no way we, as a group, as a community, can plan this engagement if you're not gonna be prepared, ' " Cameron recalled.

Even though the Descendants star knew a proposal was coming, it happened when she least expected it when the couple were at home packing for a trip.

"Clothing is everywhere, I'm in a big T-shirt, no makeup, hair still kind of wet from the shower, and I'm running round like a little creature in our house," Cameron remembered.

David stopped to admire Cameron, despite her noting she's "the worst version" of herself when packing. It was then that it clicked to her what was about to happen.

"I was so prepared until literally right now, and so I ran into the other room panicking thinking, 'Should I do my nails?' Like, what do I do? I gotta be ready," she said before joking, "I forgot how to function for a minute, my brain broke in half."

David called out for Cameron, and she eventually came out into the living room where he was waiting for her. He explained his reasoning behind his intimate, stripped-down proposal before asking her to marry him.

Cameron shared, "He had something in his hand and he said, 'I know that some girls want rose petals. I know maybe you were expecting something big but our life is so big and it's full of so many public highs that there's no romance in that for us anymore. And so I wanted to do this here, in our home, because I want dishes, I want laundry, I want making food together, I want you in your big T-shirt. This is the life that I choose, and I hope you chose the same. Will you marry me?"

The couple announced their engagement on Jan. 3, but the proposal actually happened some time in October, per Vogue.
