Laura Clery is recovering from a frightening accident in her kitchen.
The comedian, who has appeared on shows like *2 Broke Girls* and *'Til Death*, shared details of a harrowing incident in which a massive refrigerator sent her to the hospital on Thursday.
"Most terrifying night of my life as a single mom," Clery wrote on Instagram. "I was home alone getting ready for bed when my 600 pound fridge slammed into me and pinned me against the counter."
Clery explained the events leading up to the fridge's fall in a Patreon post. "Two nights ago, my son, being exactly who he is, decided to climb [the fridge]," she recalled. "I saw it shift slightly, just enough to make my stomach drop. So I ran over to push it back into place. I thought I'd just nudge it in and move on with my day like a woman who has control over her life. The second I pushed it, it came down on me. Not slowly. Not in a way where I could catch it or jump out of the way. It just fell."

She also explained that her young children both witnessed the incident, and said that she quickly had trouble breathing. "I could feel it getting harder to inhale, like my body was just slowly deciding to shut down," she wrote. "And I'm just there, pinned under a fridge, thinking this is the dumbest way anyone has ever died."
Fortunately, the comedian was able to call for help. "Thank God my phone was in my pocket and I was able to call 911," she said on Instagram. "Thank god it didn't fall on my kids. It took three firefighters to lift it off me. I'm still shaking."

Clery elaborated on the extent of her injuries in a Facebook post on Friday. "Feeling so deeply grateful that we're all okay… and also not okay…" she wrote. "It's such a weird place to be… feeling overwhelmingly grateful and completely shaken at the same time. My body is wrecked, my lower back is f---ed, but nothing is broken, which feels like a miracle."
The actress detailed how it felt to be pinned by the fridge in a follow-up comment on her Instagram post. "The pain was similar to when I was fully dilated and having contractions," she wrote, noting that she remembered thinking, "If I don't breathe I'm going to lose consciousness if that happens, my kids are alone in the home with no one coming, I was meant to take them to school in the morning."

She added, "Seriously… this could have been SO much worse."
Clery's post included a video of herself declaring how much pain she was in as firefighters helped her to safety. "You don't think I broke anything, right?" she asks in the video.
A firefighter responds, "That's why we're gonna take you to a trauma center."

The actress had even stronger words in another Facebook post reflecting on the incident that suggested that she would take legal action.
"I want to f#%king sue the contractors who installed this fridge," she wrote before alleging, "This is a nearly 600 pound stainless steel French door fridge that was NOT properly mounted into the wall. Because of that, my 7 year old was able to pull it forward, and when I tried to push it back, it fell on me and was fully crushing me. It nearly killed me. And it could have absolutely killed my child."
She added, "This should never have been possible. This was negligence."
