Comedian Laura Clery has revealed she nearly died after a 600-pound fridge fell on her while she was at home with her two young kids.
Clery, a comedian and actor who has appeared on shows like "2 Broke Girls," took to Instagram on May 21 to share she had the most "terrifying night of my life as a single mom" after her fridge "slammed into me and pinned me against the counter."
In a video clip, Clery filmed herself while being carried away in a stretcher. Another clip showed her in the ambulance after the accident, asking firefighters to confirm what happened.

She shared more details on her Patreon page. Clery, who noted her "worst nightmare" was being seriously hurt while she was the only adult in the house with her kids, explained that she has a "massive French door fridge" that is "supposed to be mounted into the wall," and she saw it starting to shift after her son climbed it. When she went to push it back into place, the fridge fell on top of her, she said.
"Not in a way where I could catch it or jump out of the way," she wrote. "It just fell. The full weight of it slammed me backward into the kitchen island, pinning my lower back and hips. I couldn't move. I tried to push it off and it didn't even slightly budge. It felt like pushing against a building."
Clery said she could soon feel it "getting harder to inhale," and she recalled being trapped and "thinking this is the dumbest way anyone has ever died." But she said she managed to get her phone out of her pocket to call 911, and it ultimately took three firemen to pull the fridge off her.

When she got to the hospital, Clery said her doctor was shocked that she had not broken any bones.
"I'm home now. I'm bruised, I'm sore, it hurts to walk, and I feel like I got hit by a truck that also lives in my kitchen But I'm okay. My kids are okay. And I cannot stop thinking about how differently this could have gone," she wrote. "If my phone hadn't been in my pocket, I don’t know what would have happened."

On Instagram, Clery thanked the firefighters "who saved my life," noting they "handled everything like absolute heroes" and she is "forever grateful for these men."
But in a Facebook post, she said she wants to sue the contractors who installed the fridge, alleging it was "NOT properly mounted" into the wall. "It nearly killed me," she posted. "And it could have absolutely killed my child. This should never have been possible. This was negligence."
Clery has appeared in episodes of shows like "'Til Death," "The League" and "2 Broke Girls," and she had a role in the movie "The Longest Week," which starred Jason Bateman and Olivia Wilde.
She also hosts the podcast "IDIOT" and is the author of three books, including the forthcoming "What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Hotter." According to Simon & Schuster, her latest is a collection of essays about "finding the funny even when your life is falling apart."
