Cheryl Hines Breaks Her Silence After Chelsea Handler Claimed She and RFK Jr. Sold Her a ‘Toxic’ $6M Home (Exclusive) -
Cheryl Hines is speaking out after Chelsea Handler claimed she and husband RFK Jr. sold her a "toxic" home
During an appearance on Tomi Lahren Is Fearless, Hines says she reached out to Handler after the sale and disputes allegations they knowingly sold a problematic property
Handler recently shared on her podcast that issues with the home delayed her move-in for years
Cheryl Hines is speaking out for the first time after Chelsea Handler claimed Hines and her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., sold her a “toxic” home five years ago.
The Curb Your Enthusiasm alum shared her perspective on the ordeal during a conversation on the Tomi Lahren is Fearless podcast. In a PEOPLE exclusive look at the interview, which drops Thursday, March 26 at 5 p.m. ET, Hines admits she’s “questioning the timing” of Handler's comments and why she decided to speak up now.
“Because she bought this house five years ago and she's just now complaining about it, which is also, I don't know that she's getting a lot of sympathy from people. She's buying a $6 million house,” Hines says. “And talking about how she feels duped and that we tried to sell her a house that was, her word, ‘toxic,’ which also doesn't make sense."

Hines claims Handler’s comment “doesn't really hold water” because she reached out to the comedian after she bought it and gave her an opportunity to share any concerns.
“I did write her a personal note when she moved in, just saying how much we love the house. And I hope that she has a beautiful life in this house. And if you need anything, call me. And I left my number,” she says. “So I don't know if we were trying to unload a toxic house on her. I wouldn't have left my number.”
Hines then claims Handler is “just trying to get attention” and that it’s “probably fun for her to make fun of' her husband.
“So, what are you going to do? She's trying to get a laugh, I guess, and some likes,” the Bad Moms actress concludes.
Hines’ response comes after Handler said she only just moved into the home this month after years of dealing with issues at the property during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote her new "High and Mighty" comedy tour.
“It took me four years to move in. There [were] a lot of problems with the house — I blame him," she said at the time, referring to RFK Jr. "And that didn’t get caught during inspection. And a lot of drama with the house. But I did just move in for the first time yesterday. So, I’m good."

She first talked about the home purchase on a March 5 episode of her Dear Chelsea podcast, during which she claimed the couple left the home in a “toxic” state that prevented her from being able to move in for years.
“I still have not lived in this house. That's how f---ed up this house was,” she said during the episode.

Continuing to explain the alleged condition of the home, she said that when the property was inspected, they “opened up the house” and told her, "‘This house is the most toxic environment. You cannot live here for at least two years.’”
“I’m not exaggerating. It was a disaster, and I didn't know it going in because everything was, you know, under wraps," she said. The podcast host added that at least three people told her the home was "cursed."

Handler then claimed the situation got worse when she discovered the couple allegedly made an “illegal” addition to the property.
“In the last week of inspection, they came and I finally — like, everything’s been redone — and they’re like, there’s a unit, like a little outdoor storage unit, that’s been there since I bought the property. And they’re like, ‘This is illegal.’”
Referring to RFK Jr., she continued, "So now we have to remove his illegal bulls---t from my property, and I'm like, how did they not find this upon the first inspection?"
