Savannah Guthrie's *Today *colleagues are celebrating the news of her imminent return to the morning show more than two months after her mother Nancy Guthrie's disappearance.

One co-anchor in particular, Al Roker, addressed the poignant significance to Guthrie's return on April 6, which happens to be the Monday after Easter Sunday.

"It's almost symbolic after Easter and the resurrection — the rising," he said. "I think as a family we'll hold hands and help her."

Craig Melvin was dutifully awed at the connection, responding, "Yes, yes, I had no thought about that."

"Of course you did, Mr. Roker," noted Hoda Kotb, who stepped back behind the *Today* desk to anchor the NBC morning show in Guthrie's absence, while Jenna Bush Hager, who attends the same church as Guthrie added, "And [Savannah] had too, you know?"

*Today *announced Guthrie's return date on Friday as part of the third segment of the co-anchor's emotional interview with Kotb.

The broadcast journalist told her close friend and colleague that it's "hard to imagine" coming back because the show is "such a place of joy and lightness," but she also added that it's part of her "purpose."

"I can't come back and try to be something that I'm not, but I can't *not* come back because it's my family," she said. "I think it's part of my purpose right now. I want to smile. And when I do, it will be real. And my joy will be my protest. My joy will be my answer. And being there is joyful. And when it's not, I'll say so. I've been so grateful to have this family. I consider this my family — my greater family — and I want to be with my family. I don't know if I can do it. I don't know if I belong anymore, but I would like to try."

She added, "I'm not gonna be the same, but maybe it's like that old poem — 'More beautiful in the broken places.'"

Guthrie has remained in Arizona since her mother, Nancy Guthrie, was declared missing on Feb. 1. Nancy, 84, was last seen on the evening of Jan. 31 at her Arizona home after being dropped off by her family. Two days later, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said her disappearance was being treated as a crime after traces of Nancy's blood were discovered on the porch.

The situation has grown more dire as the weeks continue to pass with no concrete clues to Nancy's whereabouts. Authorities have described the case as a possible kidnapping or abduction, finding ransom notes and security footage featuring a masked man tampering with Nancy's doorbell, but definitive evidence has been scarce.

Guthrie's emotional interview with Kotb was her first since her mother's disappearance. During it, she spoke about how the tragedy has affected her family, noting the poignant words about grief that have guided her each day.

Guthrie and her siblings, Annie and Camron, have made several public pleas for information and increased the reward for Nancy's return to $1 million. The family has acknowledged that while she "may already be gone," they cannot be at peace until the case is resolved.

Guthrie has expressed that she has leaned heavily on her faith to get her through this difficult time, saying she is "not alone" and "not abandoned" in her struggle. While the hunt for a suspect has been slow-moving, she thinks "someone has it in their power to help" her family and that "someone knows something." She encouraged that person to come forward with information.

"It is never too late [to help], and when you do, the warmth of love and forgiveness that will come will be greater than can be imagined," she said. "I know what it is to be forgiven, and there is no greater joy. And that joy awaits whoever can hear this and find it in their heart to help."
